Check the heat, gas appliances, hot water, and telephone. Arrange to have utilities turned on the day you arrive.
Dine out or eat take-out for the first meal or two. On your first trip to the grocery store pick up an easy breakfast food and prepared food for quick meals.
Allow time for electronic equipment (stereos, computers, televisions, etc.) to adjust to room temperature before plugging them in.
Test the security system and smoke alarms. Check the locks. Childproof your home.
