Valuation Options

Although the risk of damage during a move is generally small, you will want to consider your valuation options.

Option 1: Minimal Coverage

The Public Utility Commission requires moving companies to furnish a small amount of valuation protection on each move that they perform. Under this regulation and in the absence of any other specifically endorsed coverage you will be covered only up to but not exceeding 30 cents per pound per article in the event of loss or damage to your office effects. As an example, if a file cabinet that weighed 100 pounds was dented, you would receive $30.00 to have the cabinet repaired or replaced. This coverage is not intended as full valuation. It is provided to you at no additional cost.

Option 2: Your Current Insurance Carrier

Your present insurance policy may already provide coverage. If it does, check the exclusions carefully to assure that the coverage is not broadly limited.

Option 3: Valuation through the Mover

Hughes RelocationAmerican Way Moving Systems can purchase valuation for the move through our insurance carrier. To assure 100% protection, you must declare a value that covers the true value of the shipment. Any claim following the move would be filed through Hughes RelocationAmerican Way Moving Systems. Cost for this coverage is available from your account representative.
